recovering from Blue Mountain race

what better way to recover from a weekend mountain bike race than to bike into work? I'm a bit sore all over but it's a good idea to spin a little right after a race to stretch out those sore muscles. It was the best race of the year, couldn't ask for anything more: 2 laps at 9.5 miles each consisting of monster climbs, crazy twisted singletrack and rock gardens from hell! My son raced also and did very well for a 1st timer, second place in his category! That after running in from mile 5 with a flat! He must have really been hammering to flat like that- long snakebite that wouldn't take a patch. He hadn't changed a tube before so I didn't pack a one for him.

I'm sitting at my desk looking at the battle outside between good (sunshine) and evil (torrential rain), I hope good wins by 5 O'clock!

Race at Blue Mountain tomorrow

This week was perfect for commuting on the bike, 4 days on and I drove once. Weather was perfect and I had no traffic except when I drove the Jeep.

Packing up the camping gear for an overnight at Bear Mountain and driving to Blue Mtn on Sunday early. My son is going to race in the beginner class (12-15 year olds)

broke-back frame

a full tear down is always a good idea after a 24 hour race! I found a
nice crack in the rear triangle, AKA: back frame. I sent pics and
serial #s to my LBS so they can try the warranty dept. at Trek. This
is my 2nd frame and rear triangle, cuz my 1st had worn pivots at the
rear suspension pivots and was replaced by the warranty department at
Trek. sweet! My only problem with great warrantys like that: now I
don't need to go out and buy a Yeti ASR-l!

no miles today, I'm driving ;)

cooler weather

this morning I finished sheet-rockin' the bedroom ceiling so my wife doesn't have to complain about sleeping in the living room! I ran out of screws but moved on to taping and a little mudding. I thought I couldn't top that but my ride in this morning was primo! Cool temps and no jerks on the road. The road construction is finished on a big intersection I pass thru so the asphalt is smooth and clean. The schools I pass are getting busy so I have to watch out fer the youngins.
